Stephen Quiller

From working sketches to finished Paintings
Feb 13-17th, 2012
9:30-4:00
Cost:$400

This is a new workshop that will show how Stephen Quiller develops his thoughts and inspiration to finished paintings while working in his studio. Composition, color, water media and expression will be addressed to make the painting all that it can be.

Artists should bring photo reference material or sketch books. The reference will be developed and arranged for the best composition, color and medium or media to best express this idea. Composition will be emphasized as well as training the eye to see abstractly.

Steve will demonstrate each day using a variety of water media approaches. Each artist should have a sketch book and some sketching supplies. Also in addition to watercolor and the palette listed below, each artist should have at least one of the opaque media such as gouache, acrylic or casein.

The watercolors listed will correspond to the Quiller Palette. If the student wishes to work with any other media, the colors should also correspond to those on the Quiller Palette. I require that each student have a Quiller Palette. I will be using mostly Richeson watercolors (Stephen Quiller signature series) but you may use any other brand in comparable colors.
