Pattie Bowler
Pattie Bowler, co-owner of Artists' Showplace Gallery, paints dynamic abstract paintings in watercolors, acrylics and mixed media.
Her passion for creating art, using expressive, loose brushwork and vivid colors, with strong textural accents make her paintings distinctive.
It is no wonder that her art reflects her unique interests. She describes the influences that have brought her to this stage of her artistic journey. "Being a daughter of an Air Force officer, as well as traveling as a flight attendant for 35 years, brings an unusual perspective to my life and art. When I began painting, I realized just how much the view from above, looking down on the rivers, land masses, and mountains, had influenced my paintings. Abstract shapes get most of my attention. | | | Found Watermedia Pattie Bowler | Last Call Watermedia Pattie Bowler | Mosaic Watermedia Pattie Bowler |
I love antiques, and have many collections well suited to the 1903 house my husband, Bill and I have lived in for the last 6 years, with our 2 dogs and 2 cats. However, a house with character and age, requires continuing attention, love, understanding and patience, much like inventing a new version of life everyday. | | | Jewel Box Watercolor Pattie Bowler | House Play Watermedia Pattie Bowler | Circus Life Watermedia Pattie Bowler |
Color captivates me!! I love developing a painting and a story through color alone. A new color of paint will start a revolution on a piece of paper, or canvas. When I began painting, shortly before retiring from the Airlines, I painted and sketched my flying partners, and anything that stood still. Retirement gave me the time to take classes. As I learned I also gathered impressions, ideas and influences. Joining the Southwestern Watercolor Society in Dallas, Texas, has impacted my artistic growth the most. Attending meetings and events put me in the right place at the right time. I absorbed a lot by becoming involved with art workshops taught by well respected, international art instructors.
Three years later, with many memories to cherish, what still thrills me is getting acquainted with local artists in the community." Pattie Bowler is currently the 2010 -2011 President of the Southwestern Watercolor Society. "I hope to inspire and encourage others", she says with a smile. She brings a vibrant energy to our team at Artists' Showplace gallery, much like her colorful work that grace our walls.
