Judith Strite Campbell

Judith Strite Campbell, one of the founding co-owners of Artists' Showplace Gallery, creates bold acrylic paintings that combine her passion for music, rhythm and movement, with art.

A portrayal of the vitality of life through light, rhythm, and movement, is captured in her paintings. "What is so fascinating about art, is that it is the product of the environment, and culture of our times; it reflects expressively all that is going on, whether in music, mathematics, science, literature or philosophy"

When quite young, Judith's interest in art became a driving force. After graduating from Rollins College, she moved to Paris, and then on to Basle, Switzerland, to study art at the Allegemiene Gewerbeschule in Basel.

Upon retuning to Florida, she taught Humanities at the University of Miami, in Coral Gables. Judith completed her Master's Degree, studied etching, and continued the study of oil painting, completing many large, non-objective paintings in acrylic.

"The expression of beauty is of utmost importance to me, because beauty enlivens the spirit, reflects love, purpose, desire and intent. Beauty also reveals the authentic nature of humanity, inspiring feelings of joy. Tuning in to beauty provides a universal connection to our Creator. We are lifted up, repeatedly enjoying a work or art that speaks through the expression of beauty, to our souls."

She was represented at that time, by the Berenice Steiner Gallery, in Miami, and was featured in shows at the Lowe Art Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Miami, the Baker Gallery and the Grove House in Coconut Grove, Florida.

During the late 60's and 70's, she lived in Illinois, Florida, Nevada, California, Montana, Maryland and Kentucky. She studied painting at St John's College in Annapolis, Maryland.

Then while in Kentucky, she exhibited at Turfland in Lexington, at Doctor's Park, winning a number of ribbons and awards. Many of Judy's paintings were purchased by the State of Kentucky for sale in their many art and crafts outlets.

She moved to Fort Pierce, Florida, where she owned the Riverhouse Hotel, which included a lively night spot, restaurant and dinner theater. While there, she also had a large studio and gallery.

The City of Fort Pierce Art Gallery exhibited her work and she was invited to paint at the studio of A.E.Backus, where she learned many valuable techniques of landscape painting from the master himself.

Moving to Texas, she became one of the artist-owners of the Highland Park Art Gallery in Dallas.

Her work is included in many private and corporate collections, and may also be seen at the Art Encounter Gallery in Las Vegas and the H&S Gallery in New York City.
