Bob Wilson
Bob Wislon, an Associate at Artists'Showplace Gallery, didn't pick up a brush until he was 45. When the bottom fell out of the oil business, he decided to tackle the challenge of painting. After only three ninety-minute lessons, he realized that he had discovered a new passion. Unlike bridge, woodworking or fishing, he admits that his love for painting is only growing.
He owns two businesses in the oil and gas drilling industry. Initially all who knew him as a pragmatic businessman, were skeptical of interest in painting. Now with over two decades of painting and selling thousands of paintings, he is no novice. The skill with which he tackles a broad range of subject matter, in an indicator that anyone with the requisite amount of practice and passion can enjoy the making of art. Bob claims that his diligent work ethic, which makes him a successful businessman is precisely what makes him a good artist. He is a prolific artist, painting in oils with an acrylic underpainting. The subjects that intrigue him varies from Vargas-like girly pictures and Art Deco style figurative work to humorous works of animals and still-lifes. " My favorite stuff," he states in his characteristically businesslike manner" is to paint commissioned portraits..... because I get paid for them." He is a popular artist at the gallery with a loyal following of clients who enjoy his precise, crisp paintings.
